‘When we are no longer able to change a situation -
I understand that it can take courage to take that first step on the road to transition and change, as asking for help is not always easy. I am here to help you through that process of change, which can enable you to regain control of your life. I believe that the relationship we build between us is key to achieving your goals.
As individuals our experiences of life are unique, so we process and express our thoughts and feelings in different ways. These experiences play a key role in shaping our sense of self and how we view and respond to others. These processes take place largely on an unconscious level and so, during the course of counselling, bringing these into awareness will give you greater choice in how to think, feel and behave.
As your counsellor I welcome you into a safe, holding and confidential space, where we can explore together things which may be blocking you from moving forward in your life.
WELCOME ― COUNSELLOR BRISTOL
DPS Counselling MBACP
As a counsellor I recognise that sometimes life can seem overwhelming or difficult to cope with. It may be a specific event which has triggered something or it may be an ongoing sense of unease, anxiety, sadness, depression, anger or a whole host of other things. For example, you may like to address a specific problem to improve your relationship(s) or maybe you are looking to find ways of changing unhelpful, repeating patterns which you find inhibit or interfere with your overall sense of well-
Importantly, I offer a safe, accepting, confidential space, where we can explore your issues in a way that makes you feel comfortable and at a pace which suits you best. I firmly believe that these elements, when paired with the quality of the relationship between myself as counsellor and you the client, are crucial to forming a sound foundation and environment under which meaningful healing and progress can take place. I know that it can be very difficult for individuals to talk about painful or embarrassing situations and feelings, and so I will encourage you in a respectful and gentle way. You will find that talking to an independent, professional and empathic person can really help you to change and improve the things you want to be different in your life. I will neither tell you what you should do nor will I advise you, but I will guide you along the way, helping you to bring into awareness things which have previously been unconscious, so that you are in a position to make choices which can lead to the changes you want to make.
I understand that you may feel confused or anxious before embarking on counselling, so I offer the first meeting at a reduced rate, to give you the opportunity to ask questions, clarify what you hope to get out of the process and get a feeling for whether I am the person you would like to work with.
If you would like to make an appointment or to learn more about my work as a counsellor and counselling services offered, please feel free to contact me and I shall be happy to assist.

TRANSITION AND CHANGE ― COUNSELLOR BRISTOL
‘When we deny the story it defines us. When we own the story we can write a brave new ending’. Brene Brown.
Undergoing counselling for some may feel like a rather daunting prospect, particularly if you have had no previous experience of what to expect. The idea of confiding your innermost thoughts and feelings to someone who is not familiar to you may make you feel somewhat apprehensive and vulnerable.
As your counsellor I understand these thoughts and am fully aware that it is not always easy to ask for help; it takes a great deal of courage to make a positive decision to seek professional counselling as a means to embark upon a personal process of both transition and change. My role is purely a therapeutic one, the primary objective being to guide you through this process of uncertainty with a view to enabling you to achieve your goals and ultimately regain control over your life.
